Destination Fam Trip Day One: Welcome To Round Top, TX

Magic happens when different cultures and ideas meet.  One of the best places to witness this is Round Top, Texas.  You can find vintage Gucci and Versace on display inside an 1830’s log cabin.  You’ll find excellent Italian fine dining a hundred yards from Royer’s Pies where “Texas Trash Pie” will knock you out of your Luccheses or YSLs.

 In the spirit of dinners in open country fields and the fabulous atmosphere of the Round Top Antique Festival, we decided to partner with some of our friends and colleagues to host a fam trip for some of our favorite vendors from the Lone Star State.

Among the team were Jake and Lauren O’Malley- owners and operators of Windy Knoll, a spectacular wedding venue in Round Top. They generously allowed us host our concept at their immaculate ranch estate and venue- which happens to be a destination wedding photographer’s dream!  It was the perfect backdrop for Phuong Nguyen’s (Mibellarosa) event and floral designs.

Day One included a welcome party with catering from Armando’s, live music, cocktails, and a tour of the facilities and ended with a picture-perfect poolside dinner.  Jake told the touching story of how Windy Knoll spawned from he and Lauren’s incredible story of resilience after facing serious simultaneous illnesses.  Their work continues what began as a work of love- something that continues to shine through at every Windy Knoll Event.   

The evening casually stretched on as people shared how they got started in the industry and how they liked to spend their time away from work. Plenty of good wine, good times, and new friendships at Windy Knoll. We coulnd’t wait to share what we had in store for day two!
